Vero Profumo Onda – A roll in the hay
My first encounter with Onda happened by chance. I wanted to sample Rubj and the saleslady, inadvertedly, dabbed Onda on my wrist. So instead of the divaesque orange blossom I had been expecting, I got a tough blend of vetiver, leather and spice. A bit puzzled, I was unable to make up my mind and left without buying anything. Even though Onda was not the floral I was craving, I found it strangely compelling. A few days later I was at last able to sample all Vero Profumo perfumes and the mystery was solved.
Vero Kern‘s creations proudly bear the standards of true niche perfumery (creative freedom, top quality and limited distribution) and one tends to either love them -I do- or feel repelled by them. Classic yet modern, they are stylish and erotic, each one in its own special way.
Back to Onda: anything that -no matter how tangentially- reminds me of horses is a good thing and Onda has a horsey je ne sais quoi, a barn vibe. This rich and assertive leather reminds me at times of vintage Diorling extrait; but while the Dior is shrouded in indolic white petals, Onda is more honeyed and boasts an exalted animalic facet. Mace, ginger and coriander heat the blend adding a piquancy that makes the nose tingle and the pulse beat faster. The smokiness of vetiver seems to give roundness, smoothing out any possible rough edges. Its longevity is impressive and, despite my choice of illustration for this post, it is a fragrance perfectly suitable for both sexes.

Unfortunately I can’t wear Onda. It doesn’t suit me at all. Only Kiki and Mito are good to me.

That’s what Vero said. I’m sure it won’t be a tuberose bomb, though.
What I am really really intrigued about is the fragrance she’s working on, the rose one.
I can barely wait for it.

Good to know, I had no idea. Glad it won’t be a tuberose bomb?
A rose perfume you say, I’m intrigued. So far none of the four VP scents got on my wishlist
