Ramón Monegal Cuirelle – Felino durmiente

Cuirelle es, junto con Ambra di Luna e Impossible Iris, uno de mis preferidos entre los perfumes del creador español Ramón Monegal. Lo que me atrae con locura hacia esas tres fragancias quizás sea su suavidad casi táctil. Si bien la belleza serena de Cuirelle me impactó desde un primer momento, fue luego de varios usos y con aplicación pródiga, que logré apreciar con mayor precisión sus matices y esfumaturas.

Concebido como una reinterpretación olfativa del cuero, Cuirelle pertenece a la misma familia de gamuzas melifluas que Daim Blond y Cuir Velours. Como alguien que se conmueve con facilidad ante perfumes que remitan -de cualquier modo- a gatos o caballos, en los últimos percibo vibraciones caballunas, pero el Monegal es sin dudas de carácter felino. No tan dulce como los otros dos, se presenta también más luminoso.

Aunque esta belleza tranquila intenta esconder su condición salvaje, la fiera acecha bajo la suavidad de los almizcles y la miel. Fríos trazos de incienso sobre el cálido fondo amielado sugieren una indiferencia altanera. Fragancia declaradamente moderna cuya sutileza no va en detrimento de la intensidad, Cuirelle es como un gato grande que dormita sin dejar de estar alerta a lo que sucede a su alrededor.

Feroz como un felino y dulce como la miel…¿Cómo no adorarlo? Estoy segura de que haré lugar para una botella de Cuirelle en mi colección. Además puedo pedir que, al fundirse con mi piel, también me invista con sus poderes gatunos.

Ramón Monegal Cuirelle – Sleeping feline

Cuirelle is, alongside Ambra di Luna and Impossible Iris, one of my favorite fragrances from Spanish creator Ramón Monegal. What draws me madly to those three fragrances is, perhaps, their almost tactile smoothness. While I was instantly smitten by Cuirelle‘s serene beauty, it was only with a few wearings and prodigal application, that I came to fully appreciate its nuances and sfumature.

Conceived as an olfactory reinterpretation of leather, Cuirelle belongs in the same honeyed suede family as Daim Blond and Cuir Velours. As someone easily moved by any fragrance reminiscent -no matter how tangentially- of either cats or horses,  I get horsey vibes from the Lutens and the Goodsir, but the Monegal is decidedly feline in character. Not as sweet as the other two, it also appears more luminous.

Although this quiet beauty tries to hide its feral quality, the beast lurks beneath the softness of musks and honey. Cold strokes of incense on the warm honeyed background suggest a certain aloofness. An eminently modern fragrance whose subtlety doesn’t detract from its intensity, Cuirelle is like a big cat napping while still remaining alert to what goes on around him.

Fierce like a feline and sweet like honey…what’s not to love? I am sure I will make room for a bottle of Cuirelle in my collection. I can also wish that, upon melding with my skin, it also vests me with its catlike powers.
