Chanel Les Exclusifs La Pausa – Iris aireado

La Pausa toma su nombre de la villa que Gabrielle Chanel construyó en Cap Martin en 1928. La casa de Mademoiselle era tan austera en sus líneas como lujosa y confortable. Imposiblemente chic y aplomado pero sin melindres, La Pausa (el perfume) parece reflejar esos valores.

Las inmediaciones del refugio veraniego abundaban en olivos y naranjos, rosales, lavanda e iris purpúreos. A lo largo de las épocas y atravesando diversas culturas el iris ha sido asociado con el poder, la caballerosidad, la Virgen María y el pasaje de la vida al más allá. De esta planta, rica en simbolismo, se obtiene también uno de los materiales más preciosos que se emplean en perfumería. Es alrededor del iris  que  Jacques Polge  compuso esta fragancia en 2007, como parte de la colección Les Exclusifs.

La Pausa resulta  impactantemente bello y rico en matices, pero es también ligero, depurado y efímero. Puede remitir a Hiris en el modo en que retrata la totalidad de la planta, pero si el Hermès se asemeja a una pintura, este Chanel es una fotografía, quizás una ligeramente sobreexpuesta.  El iris es transparente y vaporoso (sin matices pastosos como Impossible Iris  ni denso y mantecoso como Opus V). En una progresión de pétalos a raíz, huele sucesivamente pimentoso, floral (con sutiles tonalidades cremosas e indólicas), verde, acuoso y terroso-empolvado. El resultado es poético y fotorrealista, más bien frío y distante (aunque no tanto como No.19)

El aroma desaparece de mi blotter en menos de 30 minutos y dura sólo un par de horas sobre mi piel con una aplicación generosa. Afortunadamente la botella de 200 ml (concentración eau de toilette) invita a rociarlo pródigamente.

Señores Wertheimer ¿considerarían, por favor, hacer una versión parfum de esta belleza?

Chanel Les Exclusifs la Pausa – Airy iris

La Pausa borrows its name from the villa Gabrielle Chanel built in Cap Martin in 1928. Mademoiselle‘s house was as austere in lines as it was luxurious and comfortable. Impossibly chic and poised but not fussy La Pausa (the fragrance) seems to reflect those values.

The surroundings of the summer refuge abounded with olive and orange trees, lavender, rose and purple irises. Through the ages and across different cultures, iris has been associated with power, chivalry, the Virgin Mary and the passage to the afterlife. From this plant, rich in symbolism, one of the most precious raw materials used in perfumery is obtained.  It is around the iris that Jacques Polge composed this fragrance in 2007, as part of the Les Exclusifs  collection.

La Pausa is strikingly beautiful and nuanced, but also lightweight, streamlined and  ephemeral. It might recall Hiris in the way it portrays the whole plant, but  if the Hermès resembles a painting, this Chanel is a photograph, perhaps a slightly overexposed one.  The iris here is sheer and gauzy (not doughy like Impossible Iris  nor dense and buttery like Opus V). In a progression from petals to root, it smells successively peppery, flowery (with subtle creamy and indolic undertones), green, watery and earthy-powdery. The result is both poetic and photorealistic, somewhat cold and distant (though not as much as No. 19).

The scent vanishes from my blotter in less than 30 minutes and lasts only a couple of hours on my skin with generous application. Thankfully, the 200 ml bottle (eau de toilette concentration) invites to spritz on lavishly. 

Monsieurs Wertheimer, would you please consider making a parfum version of this beauty?
