La canción “Un beso y una flor” de Nino Bravo mencionaba un “ligero equipaje para tan largo viaje”. Es cierto que no hay nada mejor que viajar con pocas valijas: ir con lo indispensable, sin nada que agobie nuestro disfrute de lo que nos depara el camino.
También es ideal viajar con un perfume que nos acompañe y no nos sature. JoAnne Bassett (a quien tuve el gusto de conocer en la exposición de Santa Mónica) es una de las precursoras en la perfumería de nicho norteamericana. Me mostró su libro, su mesa repleta de bellas botellas y me invitó a probar sus creaciones, entre ellas Le Voyage.
Sus ingredientes son 100% naturales. La nota cítrica es como la de un limón dulce, con tanto cuerpo que hasta parece que lo podemos morder. El corazón es floral: rosas Otto blancas, jazmín Sambac y loto rosado. Hay un suave contraste amaderado de fondo -con el sándalo y el incienso-, pero la nota cítrica siempre domina la composición.
Se trata de un eau de toilette cítrico y adictivo, de esos que uno no puede para de oler. Tiene la gran virtud de perfumar la piel intensamente y ostenta una destacable longevidad. Sin embargo, no es agobiante, no satura al olfato. Ideal también para éstos días en que el calor sofocante ha irrumpido en Buenos Aires.

JoAnne Bassett Le Voyage – Citrus light baggage
The song by Nino Bravo “Un beso y una flor” (“A kiss and a flower”) mentioned a “lightweight luggage for such a long journey”. It’s true that there is nothing better than traveling with light baggage: just carry the essentials, nothing to overwhelm our enjoyment of what lies ahead of the road.
It’s also great to travel wearing a perfume that accompanies us and does not saturate us. JoAnne Bassett (whom I had the pleasure of meeting at the Santa Monica exhibition) is one of the forerunners in American niche perfumery. She showed me her book, her table covered with beautiful bottles and she invited me to try her creations, including Le Voyage.
Its ingredients are 100% natural. The citrus note is like a sweet lemon, with so much contundence that makes us think we can chew it. The heart is floral: Otto white roses, jasmine Sambac and pink lotus. There is a soft-background woody contrast with the sandalwood and incense, but the citrus note is always dominating the composition.
It’s an addictive citrus eau de toilette, the kind that you can’t stop smelling. It has the great virtue of intensely perfuming the skin and it boasts a remarkable longevity. However, it is not overwhelming, the fragrance does not saturate. Ideal also for those days when the sweltering heat has broken into Buenos Aires.
