Los perfumes de iris suelen ser fríos y distantes, casi altivos. Algunos narices eligen explorar las facetas acuosas de la flor  mientras otros exaltan el austero refinamiento del rizoma. Las notas de iris también realzan muchas fragancias que capitalizan el atractivo de los cosméticos retro.

Impossible Iris es diferente en cierta manera. Mucho más cálido que la representación promedio de la flor, aun así conserva su identidad. Ni hiperrealista ni naturalista, este es un iris acogedor.  Desprovisto de cualquier connotación melancólica, me aventuraría a describirlo como un perfume alegre o, por lo menos, plácido. La aristocrática fleur de lys de los reyes de Francia aparece suave, aterciopelada y sutilmente frutada.

Esta delicada flor nunca es fría o terrosa (gracias al cielo, porque los perfumes fríos y yo no nos llevamos bien). Prefiere en cambio jugar con los aspectos de masa de la Iris Pallida, reforzar sus matices de violeta y añadir una juguetona nota de frambuesa. La mezcla se torna más sustanciosa -y carnal- con la adición de jazmín e ylang ylang. En ella brilla la calidad de las materias primas. Cedro y almizcle conforman un fondo suave, casi atalcado, algo apagado.

Impossible Iris -junto con Ambra di Luna y Cuirelle– se destaca como una de las creaciones más refinadas de Ramón Monegal.

Ramón Monegal Perfumes Impossible Iris – A laid-back iris

Iris fragrances tend to be cold and aloof, almost haughty. Some perfumers choose explore the watery facets of the flower while others exalt the dry austere refinement of the rhyzome. Iris notes also enhance many fragrances which capitalize a retro cosmetic appeal.

Impossible Iris is somehow different. Much warmer than the average depiction of the flower, it still retains its identity. Not hyperrealistic or even naturalistic, this is a welcoming iris. Devoid of any melancholy connotations, I would venture to describe it as a joyful fragrance or -at the very least- placid. The aristocratic fleur de lys of the kings of France appears smooth, velvety and subtly fruity.

This delicate flower is never cold or earthy (thankfully, because cold fragrances and I don’t get along at all). It prefers instead to play with the  doughy aspects of Iris Pallida, reinforce its violet undertones and add a playful raspberry note. The blend is rendered more substantial -and carnal-with the addition  of jasmine and ylang ylang. The quality of the raw materials shines through the composition. Cedarwood and musk form a soft, almost powdery, somewhat muted background.

Impossible Iris -together with Ambra di Luna and Cuirelle– stands out as one of the most refined creations from Ramón Monegal.
