Neela Vermeire Créations Pichola – ¡Hágase la luz!

Nunca es tarde si la dicha es buena. Neela Vermeire Créations Pichola fue presentado a principios de este año y, en ese momento, muy elogiado en la blogósfera perfumística. Hace muy poco logré obtener una muestra y comprender a qué se debía todo el runrún. La línea de Neela ha sido desarrollada en colaboración con el nariz Bertrand Duchaufour y el resultado, hasta ahora, fascinante. Los perfumes son sólidos en composición, calidad e identidad así que no resulta difícil enamorarse de ellos. El arduo trabajo tras la marca  y la concreción del sueño de una amante de las fragancias también son loables.

Esta composición toma su nombre del  Lago  Pichola  en Udaipur,  Rajastán, un lago artificial de agua dulce que fue creado en el siglo XIV. Pichola busca imitar los reflejos de la luz en el agua: los alegres destellos de la luz solar, el resplandor sereno de la luna. El Cielo sabrá por qué yo esperaba un perfume ligero. No lo es: a pesar de su luminosidad, Pichola resulta considerablemente contundente.

La salida es vivaz y soleada, sensación lograda a través de notas cítricas  (bergamota y clementina) y neroli.  El centelleante reflejo de los rayos del sol volcando distintos tonos de dorado en el agua ha sido capturado con exactitud. El corazón presenta un rico bouquet de flores blancas: el neroli anteriormente mencionado da un paso atrás permitiendo que la flor de naranjo, magnolia, jazmín y tuberosa brillen y deslumbren.  La tuberosa parece ir y venir y, de tanto en tanto, su presencia se torna marcada si bien no abrumadora. El aroma natural de la flor se ve logrado con particular éxito y me recuerda a un intento  de enfleurage de tuberosa que hice hace un par de años (bastante decente, si me preguntan). Un apetitoso dúo de cardamomo – sándalo,  reminiscente del que aparece en Trayee, brinda una sensación reconfortante. Resumiendo: una sinfonía floral encantadora, que se inclina hacia el lado femenino del espectro y ostenta excelente tenacidad.

Neela Vermeire Créations Pichola – Let there be light!

One’s never too late to a good party. Neela Vermeire Créations Pichola was launched earlier this year and, at the time, much celebrated among the fragrant blogosphere. It was only now that I managed to obtain a sample and understand what the buzz was all about. Neela‘s line has been developed in collaboration with nose Bertrand Duchaufour and the result, so far, is truly enchanting. The fragrances are solid in composition, quality and identity so it doesn’t become difficult to fall in love with them. The hard work behind the brand and the materialisation of a fragrance lover’s dream should also be lauded.

This latest composition is named after Lake Pichola in Udaipur,  Rajasthan, an artificial freshwater lake which was created in the XIV century.  Pichola aims to mimic the reflections of light on the  water: the joyful sparkle of sunlight, the serene glow of moonlight. Heavens know why, I was expecting a light fragrance. It is not: despite its luminosity, Pichola eau de parfum is still substantial.

Its opening is lively and sunny, a feel conveyed via citrusy notes (bergamot and clementine) and neroli.  The scintillating reflection of sun rays casting different hues of gold over the water has been accurately captured. The heart showcases a rich bouquet of white flowers: the aforementioned neroli steps back and lets orange blossom, magnolia, jasmine and tuberose shine and dazzle. The tuberose seems to come and go and, from time to time, its presence becomes very marked though not overwhelming. The natural scent of the flower has been achieved with special success, reminding me of an attempt at tuberose enfleurage I did a couple years ago (pretty decent if you ask).  A mouthwatering cardamom – sandalwood pairing,  reminiscent to the one employed in Trayee, provides a reassuring feel. All in all: a charming floral symphony, leaning towards the feminine side, boasting excellent tenacity.
