Ann Gerard Parfum Ciel d’Opale – Metáfora magistral

Una de las cosas más comunes (no por eso más sencillas) como ejercicio creativo en perfumería es contar una historia sobre ciertos elementos, absteniéndose de usar esos elementos como ingredientes. En otras palabras, crear un relato con metáforas olfativas.

Bertrand Duchaufour nos da una clase magistral al respecto con el eau de parfum Ciel d’Opale. Recrea un caluroso atardecer de verano bajo los tilos en flor, corre un aire tibio y dulce. Mientras, contemplamos un cielo opalescente, estampado de nubes pintadas con los últimos rayos de sol.

Al recorrer visualmente la pirámide olfativa, no encontramos al tilo como ingrediente. Y lo que es más sublime: si recorremos la composición con el olfato, ¡tampoco encontramos tilo! Sin embargo, la historia está ahí. El espíritu de los tilos está ahí, delineados sobre ese cielo impresionista.

Esta fragancia de Ann Gerard Parfum es alegre y positiva. Todo en ella es espontáneo y placentero. No tiene prisas: brinda sus matices dulces de membrillo, jazmín y limón de Calabria, alternándolos con el verdor del gálbano y la madreselva. Canela y pimienta de Szechuan ensambladas con el cedro y el guayaco que se lucen sobre un terroso vetiver. La fusión final de la vainilla, el ámbar y el sándalo son la metáfora del sol.

One of the most common things (not necessarily simple) as a creative exercise in perfumery is to tell a story about certain elements, without those elements as ingredients. In other words, to create a story with olfactory metaphors.

Bertrand Duchaufour gives a master class about this with the eau de parfum Ciel d’Opale. He recreates a warm summer evening under the linden trees in bloom where a sweet warm breeze blows. While we contemplate an opalescent sky, stamped by clouds painted with the last rays of sun.

When we take a look at the olfactory pyramid, we didn’t found any linden as an ingredient in it. And what is even more sublime: if we go through the composition with the smell, we didn’t find any linden! However, the story is there. The spirit of linden is there, delineated on that impressionist sky.

This Ann Gerard Parfum fragrance is happy and positive. Everything about it is spontaneous and enjoyable. No rush: it provides sweet nuances of quince, jasmine and Calabrian lemon, alternating with the green of galbanum and honeysuckle. Cinnamon and Sichuan pepper are assembled with cedar wood and guaiac and show themselves on an earthy vetiver base. The final fusion of vanilla, amber and sandalwood are the metaphor of the sun.
