Puredistance M – Agente secreto

Una noche de la semana pasada me reuní a cenar con algunos de mis amigos más cercanos. A modo de diversión, llevé conmigo unas muestras de perfumes.  Después de la comida, en lugar de chocolates con menta -o después de los chocolates con menta- los pequeños frascos serían unas lindas chucherías .  Mis amigos no son perfumistas. Son dueños de un gusto refinado y aprecian la calidad, pero el mundo de la perfumería artística les es arcano, así que estaba interesada en cuáles serían sus opiniones y reacciones. Estábamos olfateando distraídamente cuando saqué mi tubito de Puredistance M y lo pasé de mano en mano, entonces todos se quedaron sin habla. Y quiero decir literalmente sin habla.

El lema de Puredistance , ”elegancia atemporal”, vuelve a cobrar vida en esta creación.

M, un chipre de cuero  inspirado por el interior de un Aston Martin gris, es suave y refinado.  Sé que algunos lo comparan con Bel Ami, pero la versión actual de Bel Ami ha sido diluída considerablemente y la vintage  -una belleza potente- resulta tosca y prosaica si se la huele junto a M. Bel Ami es -o, mejor dicho, solía ser- excelente, pero M es sublime.

Este perfume de alta concentración (25%) muestra los sellos de Roja Dove: clasicismo y elegancia. Quizás sólo un nariz británico podía resultar tan convincente a la hora de crear algo claramente evocador de James Bond.

Luego de una tradicional salida cítrica -fugaz pero de una calidad asombrosa- todo gira alrededor de un cuero ahumado que ha sido aparentemente domesticado por el jazmín y la rosa. La vainilla y el oud añaden un bienvenido toque oriental a la clásica estructura de chipre, lo suficiente para hacer que el blend huela exótico. El oud no está listado entre las notas provistas por la compañía, pero estoy segura de que hay un poco en la mezcla. No creo que la suavidad de M pueda ser suficientemente enfatizada. Las notas vibran afinadamente como el ronroneo de un gato grande, o como el motor del auto de Bond.

M es peligrosamente seductor. Pussy Galore no sería inmune a su encanto.

Puredistance M – Secret agent

One evening last week I had dinner with  a few of my closest friends. Just for fun, I carried some fragrance samples with me. Instead of after-dinner mints -or after after dinner mints- the tiny vials would be the treat . My friends are not perfumistas. They have a refined taste and appreciate quality but the world of artistic perfumery remains somewhat arcane to them, so I was interested in what their thoughts and reactions would be. We were distractedly sniffing when I took out my vial of Puredistance M and passed it around, then everyone  became speechless. And I mean literally speechless.

The Puredistance motto of ”timeless elegance” comes to life once again in this creation.

M, a leather chypre  inspired by the interior of a grey Aston Martin, is smooth and refined.  I hear some people compare it to Bel Ami, but Bel Ami’s current version has been watered down and the vintage  -a powerhouse beauty- seems brutish and pedestrian when smelled next to M. Bel Ami is -or rather used to be- excellent, but M is sublime.

This highly concentrated (25%) fragrance bears Roja Dove‘s trademark classicism and elegance. Maybe only a British nose could convincingly create something so clearly evocative of James Bond.

After a traditional citrusy opening -fleeting but of astounding quality – it is all about  smoky leather that has been apparently tamed by jasmine and rose. Vanilla and oud add a welcome oriental twist to the classic chypre structure, just enough to make the blend smell exotic. Oud is not listed among the notes provided by the company, but I am sure there is some in the mix. I don’t think its smoothness can be stressed enough. The notes vibrate in tune like the purr of a big cat, or like the engine of Bond‘s car.

M is dangerously seductive. Pussy Galore wouldn’t be immune to its charm.
