Amouage Lyric Woman – La gran belleza

Lyric Woman es uno de los pocos perfumes que querría guardarme para mí. Claro, ustedes podrían oler mi sillage al pasar y con eso sería suficiente. Cada vez que alguien pregunta qué llevo puesto, mascullo algo ininteligible o contesto vagamente “Amouage“.

“Más allá de la belleza transitoria y la pureza de Lyric perdura una conmovedora canción sin principio ni final. Inspirado por la rosa, Lyric es un perfume floral oriental suspendido en el tiempo con una melodía mítica”. Compuesto en 2008 por el nariz Daniel Maurel (Robertet) bajo la brillante dirección creativa de Christopher Chong, Lyric es el tributo de la firma omaní a la rosa; pero describirlo meramente como una fragancia de rosa sería torpe y simplista. Romántico, mundano y desprovisto de cualquier atisbo de inocencia, Lyric escapa a las etiquetas. Fue mucho más placentero haberlo disfrutado durante varios días corridos que tratar de transformarlo en palabras.

La salida,gloriosa, sorprende con una tormenta de pétalos de rosa. Lejos de las típicas rosas té, estos pétalos son pesados y de textura  carnosa, como pequeños almohadones color rojo carmesí. Los almohadones… quiero decir…los pétalos, están espolvoreados con especias (jengibre, canela y cardamomo) que los endulzan y añaden un ligerísimo picor. La mezcla pronto se serena y cobra una cremosidad (jazmín, ylang-ylang) tan  reconfortante  como la nata batida que corona un Franziskaner; Lyric, igual que el café caliente, funciona especialmente bien en clima frío. El fondo –almizclado, avainillado– irradia calidez. Suavemente sucio y corrompido, apenas animal, se desvanece en un abrazo lechoso de sándalo. Su longevidad sobresale, si bien no es tan notable como la de otros Amouages.
El extrait es más espeso que el eau de parfum, no sólo en términos de sensación, sino en consistencia; es también mucho más concentrado y tenaz.

Ni vanguardista ni anticuado; ni juvenil ni maduro en exceso, sería difícil asociar a este perfume con una edad o época determinada. Lyric resulta tan atemporal como la belleza de una rosa o, mejor dicho, así de eterno.

Amouage Lyric Woman –  The great beauty

Lyric Woman is one of those few fragrances I would like to keep to myself. Of course,you would be allowed to sniff my sillage as I walked by but that should suffice. Whenever someone asks what I’m wearing, I mumble something ininteligible or just answer vaguely “Amouage“.

“Beyond the transient beauty and purity of Lyric lingers a poignant song without a beginning and an end. Inspired by the rose, Lyric is a floral oriental fragrance suspended in time with a mythical melody”. Composed in 2008 by nose Daniel Maurel (Robertet) under the brilliant creative direction of Christopher Chong, Lyric is the Omani brand’s tribute to the rose; but describing it as merely as a rose fragrance would be torpid and simplistic. Romantic, mundane, devoid of any glimmer of innocence, Lyric defies labels. Getting to enjoy it for a few days in a row was much more pleasurable than trying to transform it into words.

The glorious opening surprises with a rose petal storm. Not your average pink tea roses, these petals are  heavy  and of a fleshy texture, like little crimson velvet cushions. The cushions… I mean…petals, are sprinkled with spices (ginger, cinnamon, cardamom) which sweeten them and add just the slightest piquancy. The blend soon calms down and acquires a creaminess  (jasmine, ylang-ylang)  as comforting as the whipped cream on top of a Franziskaner; Lyric, much like hot coffee, works especially well in cold weather. The drydown –musky,vanillic– radiates warmth. Mildly dirty and animalic, barely corrupted, it fades into the milky embrace of sandalwood.Longevity is excellent though not as outstanding as in other Amouages.
The extrait is more dense than the eau de parfum, not only in feel but in texture; it is also much more concentrated and tenacious.
Neither avant garde nor dated; not juvenile or excessively mature, it would be difficult to associate this fragrance with any given age or period of time; Lyric is as timeless as the beauty of a rose, or, better put, as eternal.
