Carta a Papá Noel

Precalenté y elongué los dedos antes de empezar a tipear con cuidado ya que no se trata de un asunto menor: esto queda escrito en piedra. No me apartaré del listado que servirá a modo de carta a Papá Noel, resolución de Año Nuevo y lista de compras, todo en uno.

Decidí limitarme a perfumes que ya conozco (no habrá compras arriesgadas para mí este año) y a elegir concentración parfum cuando sea posible.

En orden aleatorio:

L’Artisan Parfumeur Mûre et Musc Este será mi perfume no-perfume y reemplazará a mi querido y discontinuado Roger&Gallet Bouquet Imperial. Ambos perfumes casan notas frutales y almizcladas con resultado agradable y discreto.

Tauer Perfumes Une Rose Vermeille Aunque Une Rose Chypree me impactó con su belleza dramática, sé que usaré al amigable Une Rose Vermeille más a menudo. En este coqueto gourmand las dulces notas de rosa, violeta y frambuesa se ven balanceadas con limón y lavanda.

Amouage Opus III Un eau de parfum complejo, casi caótico que acentúa violeta, retama, ylang ylang, benjuí y vainilla. Percibo un maravilloso trasfondo caballuno que me hace disfrutarlo aún más.

Roja Parfums Innuendo Un bouquet floral suave y clásico de calidad asombrosa.Me resulta tan hermoso que quedé sin palabras (sí, es posible) al probarlo.

Maison Francis Kurkdjian Absolue pour le Soir Porque uno necesita al menos un perfume que tan sucio como el aliento de un animal. Absolue Pour le Soir siempre me recuerda a la pantera mitológica hacia la cual otras bestias se sentían irremediablemente atraídas.

Teo Cabanel Alahine Un ámbar dorado y melifluo que rebosa de jazmín, rosa y  flor de naranjo antes de convertirse en humo.

Esta lista se ve engañosamente austera hasta el momento de hacer números. Agrego en mi defensa que soy económica al extremo en todos los aspectos que no tengan que ver ni remotamente con perfumería.

Ya que los backups no cuentan como compras de verdad (Qué dicen? Que SÍ? Absurdo!), siempre encontraré lugar en mi corazón y en mi armario para más de estas bellezas. Todas fueron amor a primer olfato: Amouage Lyric, Vero Profumo Kiki, Neela Vermeire Créations Mohur,Ramón Monegal Ambra di Luna,Puredistance Opardu,Mona di Orio Ambre y Grossmith Shem-El-Nessim.

Letter to Santa

I warmed up and stretched my fingers before I started to type carefully. This is no minor matter: what I am writing here is set in stone. I will not stray from this list which will serve as an all-in-one letter to Santa, New Year’s resolution and shopping list.

I have decided to stick to fragrances I have already tried (no unsniffed purchases for me this year) and to go for parfum concentration whenever possible.

In no specific order:

L’Artisan Parfumeur Mûre et Musc This will be my non-perfume perfume and will replace my beloved, long discontinued Roger&Gallet Bouquet Imperial. Both fragrances marry fruity and musky notes with pleasant and discreet results.

Tauer Perfumes Une Rose Vermeille Although Une Rose Chypree stunned me with its dramatic beauty, I know I will wear the friendlier Une Rose Vermeille more often. In this coquettish gourmand the rose, violet and raspberry notes are tempered with lemon and lavender.

Amouage Opus III A complex, almost chaotic eau de parfum which highlights violet, broom, ylang ylang, benzoin and vanilla. I get a wonderful horsey undercurrent from it which makes me enjoy it even more.

Roja Parfums Innuendo A soft classic floral bouquet of astounding quality. I find it so beautiful I  became speechless (yes, it is possible) when I first tried it.

Maison Francis Kurkdjian Absolue pour le Soir Because one needs at least one fragrance which is as dirty as the breath of an animal. Absolue por le Soir always reminds me of the mythological panther to whom other beasts became irresistibly  attracted.

Teo Cabanel Alahine A golden honeyed amber that brims with rose,jasmine and orange blossom before fading into smoke.

 This list looks deceivingly austere until one does the math. I add in my defense that I’m extremely low maintenance in all aspects of my life that have absolutely nothing to do with fragrance.

Since backups don’t count as actual purchases (What say you? They DO? Nonsense!), I will always find place in my heart and wardrobe for more of these beauties. All of them were love at first sniff: Amouage Lyric, Vero Profumo Kiki, Neela Vermeire Créations Mohur,Ramón Monegal Ambra di Luna,  Puredistance Opardu, Mona di Orio Ambre,and Grossmith Shem-El-Nessim.

Neela Vermeire Creations Mohur Extrait – ¡Viva la reina!

No dudo que la mayoría de los perfumes que  realmente me conmueven han sido creados sin  preocupaciones de marketing ni focus groups detrás. En última instancia, todo el mundo quiere vender y eso es lícito; lo que no está bien es la dilución de identidad o de calidad en el propósito de vender. Existen, por supuesto, muchos bellos perfumes sin alma que se apoyan sólo en su perfección (o corrección) técnica. Son los que elijo para las reuniones de trabajo.

En el otro extremo del abanico, Mohur se cuenta, sin exageración, entre los perfumes más bellos y emotivos que haya olido jamás. Sutilmente matizado, por momentos me resulta delicado en exceso. Suelo olvidar que lo llevo puesto sólo para que me lo recuerde cada tanto el etéreo aroma a rosas que viene y va.  Llamo a Mohur “mi fantasma amigable”.

La semana pasada en Pitti Fragranze, Neela Vermeire presentó Ashoka, su fragancia más reciente. Durante 2014, lanzará Mohur Extrait, una versión más concentrada del Mohur original, que se sumará a esta sólida línea. Todas las tonalidades de Mohur aparecen más vívidas en Mohur Extrait; para empezar, la rosa. Esta rosa es tan majestuosa como podría esperarse de un perfume creado como tributo a una poderosa emperatriz. Pienso a Mohur Extrait  como una especie de sistema solar en el que el sol ha sido reemplazado por una rosa y todas las otras notas toman el lugar de los planetas: cardamomo, ambrette, cuero, leche de almendras, oud gravitan alrededor de esta enorme flor. Comparando lado a lado (muñeca a muñeca), Mohur original resulta más seco, su nota de ambrette más pronunciada, mientras que en Mohur Extrait la rosa se agiganta.  El aspecto gourmand lácteo -reminiscente de postres indios- también se intensifica en el extrait aunque no es abrumador; sólo más dulce. Mohur es modoso, casi tímido; Mohur Extrait, regio y enérgico: la reina ha trocado sus sedas rosa pálido por terciopelo recamado.

Neela Vermeire Creations Mohur Extrait – Long live the queen!

I am positive most of the fragrances which truly move me have been created without marketing concerns and focus groups behind. Ultimately, everyone wants to sell and that’s alright; what is not ok is the dilution of identity or quality in one’s aim to sell. Of course there are many beautiful soul-less fragrances which rely solely on their technical perfection (or correctness); I wear those to business meetings.

On the other end of the spectrum Mohur is, without exaggeration, one of the most beautiful and moving fragrances I have ever smelled. Subtly nuanced, at times it seems almost a bit too delicate for me. I regularly forget I am wearing it only to be reassured by the few brief, ethereal rosy whiffs I catch every now and then. I call Mohur “my friendly ghost”.

Last week, at Pitti Fragranze, Neela Vermeire unveiled Ashoka, her latest fragrance. At some point during 2014 she will launch Mohur Extrait, a more concentrated version of the original Mohur, that will join this solid range. All the hues in Mohur appear to be more vivid in Mohur Extrait. For starters, the rose: this rose is as majestic as one would expect from a fragrance created as a tribute to a powerful empress. I see Mohur Extrait as a sort of solar system where the sun has been replaced by a rose and all the other notes take the place of planets: cardamom, ambrette, leather, almond milk, oud gravitate around this enormous flower. Comparing side by side (wrist to wrist), original Mohur seems drier, its ambrette note more noticeable, while in Mohur Extrait the rose gets magnified. The milky gourmand aspect -reminiscent of Indian  desserts- is also more intense in the extrait; not overwhelming at all, just sweeter. Mohur is well behaved and almost shy; Mohur Extrait, powerful and regal: the queen has traded her pale pink silks for embroidered velvet.

¡Primavera! ¡Primavera!

Mientras Virginia da la bienvenida al otoño en la soleada California, el impredecible tiempo porteño pasa de 5 a 27 grados en el lapso de dos días.  Siento que me debato entre el invierno y el verano aunque sé que la primavera está a la vuelta de la esquina: en consecuencia, necesito prepararme para ella.  Por supuesto que, para alguien que viste de negro todo el año (la única variante es la superficie cubierta), el perfume requiere de mucha más planificación que la ropa.

Cuando llegan los días más cálidos, instintivamente opto por fragancias más ligeras (¿acaso no es lo que hacemos todos?),  privilegiando florales verdes y chipres frescos. Aromas que sugieren hojas, brotes y polen o flores como  los narcisos, jacintos y rosas parecen gritar “primavera”.

Estas son mis elecciones para la próxima estación:

Ramón Monegal Impossible Iris Una flor sutil y aireada, nunca fría u oscura. Los aspectos de masa del iris se endulzan con frambuesa y se tornan más sensuales via jazmín e ylang ylang. Uno de los mejores perfumes de Ramón Monegal y, quizás, mi iris preferido.

Vero Profumo Mito EDP Oscuras hojas verdes, cítricos y magnolia logran una fragancia refrescante si bien misteriosa. Lejanamente emparentada con Chanel Cristalle, pero más profunda y laberíntica. Estoy ansiosa por probar la flamante versión extrait, en la que Vero Kern restó jazmín y sumó tuberosa y durazno.

Puredistance Antonia Este elegante floral verde (hiedra y gálbano) abre frío y casi altivo, pero luego evoluciona hacia una base avainillada. Sería la elección perfecta para una fiesta en un jardín.

Guerlain Chamade (vintage) un floral-oriental-verde-frutado si es que tal cosa puede existir. Chamade es una sobredosis de polen, jacinto, rosas y grosella negra and blackcurrant sobre un cálido colchón de ámbar, sándalo y vainilla. Puedo conmoverme con L’Heure Bleue  y entusiasmarme con Nahéma, pero Chamade vintage es mi Guerlain.

Eau d’Italie Un Bateau pour Capri Curiosamente, aunque no lo considero el perfume más intelectual de la casa mediterránea, es el que uso más a menudo ya que es innegablemente bonito y relajado. Peonías, duraznos, almizcle blanco y una pizca de polvo.

LM Parfums Ambre Muscadin Aunque pueda parecer un poco denso para la primavera, este melifluo cedro ambarado me reconfortará en las noches más frescas. Su excelente longevidad es un plus.

Amouage Ubar Una fragancia compleja e hiperfemenina con gran sillage. La salida plena de litsea cubeba y cítricos guía hacia un delicado corazón de rosa damascena y lirio del valle. ¿El fondo? Notas atalcadas y animales. Esta será, como es usual, mi elección para fiestas y veladas formales.

Neela Vermeire  Créations Mohur Siempre tengo a mano esta rosa con tintes de cuero y jabón. Es tan sutil y hermosa que me dan ganas de llorar de alegría.

Entre los perfumes que me encantaría olfatear antes de que termine la temporada cálida:

Von Eusersdorff Classic Myrrh La combinación de incienso, cedro, violeta y patchouli suena tan tentadora, que estoy considerando comprarlo sin haberlo probado.

Oriza L. Legrand Jardins d’Armide Flores, polvo y nostalgia son aquí las palabras claves.

Parfum d’Empire Eau Suave Inspirado por las rosas del Château de Malmaison, este chipre moderno exalta las flores con especias y frutas.

Spring! Spring!

As Virginia welcomes Autumn in sunny California, crazy porteño weather  goes from 5 to 27 degrees in the span of two days. I feel like I oscillate between Winter and Summer although I know Spring is just around the corner: in consequence, I must prepare for it.  Of course,  for someone who wears black year round (with varying degrees of coverage), fragrance needs a lot more planning than clothes.

When the weather gets warmer, I instinctively switch to lighter fragrances (don’t we all?),  favoring green florals and fresh chypres. Scents that suggest leaves, buds and pollen or flowers like narcissus, hyacinths and roses seem to scream “Spring“.

These are my personal choices for the season:

Ramón Monegal Impossible Iris A delicate and airy flower, never cold or rooty. The doughy aspects of iris are sweetened by raspberry and rendered more sensual via jasmine and ylang ylang. One of the best from Ramón Monegal and, perhaps, my favorite iris ever.

Vero Profumo Mito EDP Dark green leaves, citrus and magnolia make for a refreshing though mysterious fragrance. Loosely related to Chanel Cristalle but deeper, more labyrinthine. I am eager to try the recently launched extrait version in which Vero Kern substracted jasmine but added tuberose and peaches.

Puredistance Antonia This elegant green (galbanum and ivy) floral opens cold and almost haughty but later evolves towards a vanillic base. It would make the perfect choice for a garden party.

Guerlain Chamade (vintage) A green-fruity-floral-oriental if such thing exists. Chamade is an overdose of pollen, hyacinth, rose and blackcurrant over a warm bed of amber, sandalwod and vanilla. I can be moved by L’Heure Bleue and excited before Nahéma, but vintage Chamade is my Guerlain.

Eau d’Italie Un Bateau pour Capri Funnily enough, while I do not regard this as the most intellectual creation of the Mediterranean house, it is the one I wear most often as it is undeniably pretty and relaxed. Peonies, peaches, white musks and the tiniest smidgen of powder.

LMParfums Ambre Muscadin  Although it might seem be a bit dense for Spring, this honeyed ambery cedarwood will confort me on cooler evenings. The excellent longevity is a plus.

Amouage Ubar An über feminine and complex fragrance with big sillage. The opening, brimming with litsea cubeba and citrus, leads to a delicate heart of rosa damascena and lily of the valley. The drydown? Powdery and animalic notes. This will be, as usual, my choice for parties and black tie events.

Neela Vermeire  Créations Mohur I always keep this soapy leathery rose on hand. It is so beautiful and subtle, it makes me want to weep with joy.

Among the fragrances I would like to lay my nostrils on before the warm season is over:

Von Eusersdorff Classic Myrrh The combination of incense, cedar, violet, and patchouli sounds so appealing, I am considerin buying it unsniffed.

Oriza L. Legrand Jardins d’Armide Flowers, powder and nostalgia are the key words here.

Parfum d’Empire Eau Suave Inspired by the roses of the Château de Malmaison, this modern chypre sublimates the flowers with spices and fruit.

Perfumes para divas – Un “top 10”

¿Quién es una diva? Originalmente, una célebre cantante de ópera, una prima donna. Por extensión, una estrella glamorosa de cine, teatro u otras áreas de entretenimiento. Una diva está acostumbrada a ser el centro de atención dondequiera que va y cada capricho es satisfecho por su entorno o por sus fieles admiradores. Esta experimentada mujer exige las mejores cosas de la vida porque, ya sabemos, ella lo vale.

Qué usaría una diva? Hoy compartimos diez fragancias potentes e innegablemente femeninas: opulentas flores blancas, chipres de rosa, complejos perfumes aldehídicos que resisten e incluso exaltan una personalidad fuerte.

Vero Profumo Rubj Este ambrosíaco elixir combina flor de naranjo, jazmín egipcio y almizcle. Si bien ambas versiones son bellas, el parfum es la diva legítima.

Editions de Parfums Lipstick Rose Una mezcla deslumbrante e hiperfemenina de frambuesa, rosa, violeta y vainillina que evoca el aroma del lápiz labial. El sillage y la longevidad son impresionantes.

Neela Vermeire Creations Bombay Bling Un ejemplo magistral de un género complicado (floral frutado) y menos formal que nuestras otras sugerencias, Bombay Bling es una colorida explosión de mango verde, flores blancas y vainilla. Perfecto para espíritus jóvenes, princesas del pop y estrellas de Bollywood.

Roja Parfums Scandal En absoluto escandaloso, este perfume presenta a la tuberosa como la estrella y a la rosa en un rol de reparto. Embriagador; no obstante refinado y de carácter clásico.

Chanel Les Exclusifs de Chanel No 22 La hermana extravagante de No5 rebosa de aldehídos, flores blancas, incienso y vainilla.

Serge Lutens Feminité du Bois Este clásico moderno es a la vez elegante y misterioso. Cedro y sándalo forman el telón de fondo para el durazno y la ciruela.  La cálida mezcla está espolvoreada generosamente con jengibre, canela y clavo de olor.

 Ungaro Diva Suntuoso e imponente, este chipre de rosa está rociado con miel.  Ideal para ser usado con los tacones más altos y el labial más rojo.

Piguet Fracas Creado en 1948 y aún hoy  considerado la quintaesencia de los perfumes de tuberosa, ha sido usado por Madonna, Marlene Dietrich, Iman e Isabella Blow . Recomendamos la versión parfum, que es más cremosa y opulenta que el atalcado eau de parfum.

Amouage Gold Woman Este magnífico floral aldehídico es la obra maestra del fallecido Guy Robert (según sus propias palabras) y la fragancia más icónica de Amouage. La espléndida composición de estilo francés está orlada con incienso y mirra.

Lorenzo Villoresi Donna Una composición floral especiada que logra retener algo de frescor. Rosa búlgara, clavel, narciso e ylang ylang están aderezados con coriandro. El resultado es femenino y deliciosamente jabonoso.

Fragrances fit for a diva – A top 10

Who is a diva? Originally, a celebrated opera singer, a prima donna. By extension, a glamorous star in film, theatre and other areas of entertainment. A diva is used to being the center of attention wherever she goes and every whim of hers is satisfied by either her entourage or her loyal admirers. This seasoned woman demands the finest things in life because, you know, she’s worth it.

What would a diva wear? Today we share ten powerful and undeniably feminine fragrances: opulent white flowers, rose chypres, complex aldehydic perfumes that hold their own ground against a larger than life personality.

Chanel Les Exclusifs de Chanel No 22 No5’s more flamboyant sister brims with aldehydes, white flowers, incense and vanilla.

Serge Lutens Feminité du Bois This modern classic is elegant and mysterious at a time. Cedar and sandalwood provide the backdrop for peach and plum.  The warm blend is generously sprinkled with ginger, cinnamon and cloves.

Ungaro Diva A rich and imposing rose chypre drizzled with honey.  To be worn with your highest heels and your reddest lipstick.

Piguet Fracas Created in 1948 and still the quintessential tuberose fragrance, it has been worn by Madonna, Marlene Dietrich, Iman and Isabella Blow . We recommend the parfum versión, which is creamier and more opulent tan the powdery eau de parfum.

Amouage Gold Woman This grand aldehydic floral is the late Guy Robert‘s masterpiece (in his own words) and Amouage’s most iconic fragrance. The splendid French style composition  is laced with frankincense and myrrh.

Lorenzo Villoresi Donna A spicy floral composition that still manages to retain some freshness.  Bulgarian rose, carnation, narcissus and ylang ylang are spiced up with coriander. The result is womanly and deliciously soapy.

Mis 10 rosas preferidas

El año pasado listamos 10 rosas que NO nos recuerdan a nuestra abuela. Eludiendo estereotipos, los perfumes de rosa -mucho más allá de los soliflorales victorianos- pueden ir desde profundos y jugosos a secos y áridos.  Cuando se visten de gourmands resultan juguetones, reminiscentes de merengues rellenos con ganache de rosas…o pueden sugerir delicias de medio Oriente, donde las almendras, canela y miel añaden una innegable sensualidad.

A veces siento que una fragancia sin notas definidas de rosa es de alguna manera incompleta, inacabada. uno de mis maridajes preferidos es el de rosa con durazno o frambuesa. También disfruto de los dúos atalcados de rosa y violeta que recuerdan el aroma de viejos cosméticos y rara vez puedo resistirme a una rosa enorme, profunda y con matices de mermelada..

Estos son -en orden aleatorio- mis 10 perfumes de rosa preferidos:

Creed Fantasia de Fleurs ha sido un básico en mi armario en los últimos 15 años. Generosa, cremosa y opulenta, se dice que esta mezcla de rosa, jazmín y ambargris fue creada en los años 1860s y reorquestada en los 1980s (aunque definitivamente huele como una creación de los ’80s). A diferencia de los reclamos históricos de Creed, la belleza de sus creaciones está más allá de toda disputa.

Neela Vermeire Créations Mohur Una de las fragancias más poéticas que haya olfateado jamás, Mohur aúna rosa con especias, notas gourmand, cuero y jabón. Esta mezcla, caótica en apariencia, funciona de maravillas y logra un perfume reconfortante y refinado. La nueva versión concentrada  (disponible en un futuro cercano) es cosa de otro mundo.

Amouage Lyric Woman  Una rosa roja suntuosa y profunda, espolvoreada con cardamomo, canela y vainilla. Lyric resulta un perfume oscuro y suave a la vez que, a pesar de su opulencia, puede usarse con facilidad en ámbitos informales.

Les Parfums de Rosine La Rose de Rosine El perfume insignia de una casa especializada en fragancias a la rosa. Este refinado bouquet de rosa y violeta es envolvente y ligeramente atalcado.

Tauer Perfumes Une Rose Chypree Dramático e imponente como los pesados cortinados de terciopelo de la ópera, este perfume me tomó por sorpresa.  Canela y laurel añaden picor a una mezcla que me retrotrae a la edad de oro de la Perfumería.

Mona di Orio Rose Etoile de Hollande Una salida aldehídica rebosante de  clavo de olor y durazno guía hacia una rosa frutada; luego, a una base atalcada y amaderada. Es elegante y original, como la mayoría de las creaciones de esta casa.

Eau d’Italie Un Bateau pour Capri Mi rosa para los fines de semana, vacaciones y días de calor. La nota de  rosa centifolia es dominante entre peonías, durazno y almizcles blancos. Si bien no es la creación más provocadora de Eau d’Italie, resulta bonita, coqueta y desenfadada.

Fueguia 1833 Juan Manuel Es como zambullirse dentro de una rosa enorme, profunda y aterciopelada. Los dulces matices de miel del absoluto de rosas son irresistibles. Prefiero esta fragancia en concentración absolu.

Ormonde Jayne Ta’if Una mezcla chispeante de pimienta rosa, rosa y dátiles sobre una base de ámbar. Logra originalidad sin desafiar los estándares convencionales de belleza. Suelo reservar su uso para ocasiones festivas.

Puredistance Antonia (Ok, estoy haciendo algo de trampa acá porque Antonia no es estrictamente un perfume en el que domina la rosa) Luego de que amaina la explosión inicial de hiedra y gálbano, me quedo con la impresión de una enorme rosa verde que florece con la temperatura corporal.

My 10 favorite roses

Last year we listed 10 roses that do NOT remind us of our Grandma. Eluding stereotypes,  rose fragrances go far beyond Victorian soliflores.  They can range from deep and juicy to dry and arid.  Under gourmand guise they may be playful, reminiscent of meringues filled with rose-scented ganache…or they can suggest Mid-Eastern pastries where almonds, cinnamon and honey add an undeniable sensuality.

I sometimes feel that a fragrance with no defined rose notes is somehow incomplete, unfinished. One of my favorite pairings is rose with peach or raspberry I also enjoy powdery rose-violet duets that smell evocative of old cosmetics and I can rarely resist a big, deep, jammy rose.

These are -in no specific order- my 10 favorite rose perfumes:

Creed Fantasia de Fleurs has been a staple in my wardrobe for almost 15 years. Rich, creamy and opulent, this rose–jasmine–ambergris blend is said to have been created in the 1860s and reorchestrated in the 1980s (though it definitely smells like a child of the ’80s). Unlike Creed‘s historical claims, the beauty of their creations is beyond dispute.

Neela Vermeire Créations Mohur One of the most poetic fragrances I have ever smelled, Mohur blends rose with spices, gourmand notes, leather and soap. This seemingly chaotic cocktail works beautifully and makes for a comforting and elegant fragrance. The new concentrated version (to be available later this year) is out of this world.

Amouage Lyric Woman A rich deep red rose sprinkled with cardamom, cinnamon and vanilla, Lyric is dark and soft at the same time. Despite its opulence, this beauty can be easily worn in informal settings.

Les Parfums de Rosine La Rose de Rosine The flagship fragrance from a house that specializes in rose perfumes. This refined rose-violet bouquet is cocooning and slightly powdery.

Tauer Perfumes Une Rose Chypree Dramatic and grand like heavy crimson velvet curtains at the opera, this fragrance took me completely by surprise.  Cinnamon and bay add piquancy to a blend that takes me back to the golden age of perfumery.

Mona di Orio Rose Etoile de Hollande An aldehydic opening brimming with cloves and peaches leads to a fruity rose, then to a powdery-woody base. Elegant and original, like most creations from this house.

Eau d’Italie Un Bateau pour Capri My rose for weekends, holidays and warm weather. The rosa centifolia note is dominant among peony, peach and white musks. While it is not the most challenging creation from Eau d’Italie, I find it pretty, flirty and lightearted.

Fueguia 1833 Juan Manuel This feels like diving into a big deep red velvety rose. The sweet honeyed hues of rose absolute are simply irresistible. I prefer this in absolu concentration.

Ormonde Jayne Ta’if A sparkling mix of pink pepper, rose and dates on an amber base. It manages to be original without defying conventional beauty standards. I tend to save this for festive occasions.

Puredistance Antonia (Ok, I’m cheating a bit here because Antonia is not strictly a rose-dominant fragrance) After the initial green blast of ivy and galbanum subsides, I am left with the impression of a big green rose that blooms in contact with body heat.
