Olivier Durbano ideó su colección inspirándose en las piedras, su leyenda y simbolismo. Bautizó a la línea, apropiadamente, Collection de Pierres Poemes. La sensibilidad de un verdadero artista rodea a Olivier, quien habla con voz suave aunque vehementemente si se trata de perfumes.
Olivier afirma que es la pasión y no la razón lo que lo motiva al crear. En sus fragancias logra transmutar la piedra en líquido. Sus eaux de parfum están infundidas de una cierta cualidad mineral, elemento común a todos los perfumes de la serie. Sencillamente, huelen como piedra.
Heliotrope fue lanzado en 2012 en Pitti Fragranze. Este Heliotropo no está inspirado por la flor homónima sino, obviamente, por la piedra del mismo nombre (también llamada bloodstone en Inglés, debido a las inclusiones de color rojo que en ella se encuentran). La piedra, ya conocida por los babilonios y aztecas, se asociaba con la sangre, era usada para mantener alejados a los enemigos, para provocar tormentas y relámpagos y como tratamiento para distintas dolencias del sistema circulatorio. Aún hoy es usada en la medicina tradicional de la India.
Aunque el Sr. Durbano cuenta al heliotropo (la flor) entre las notas, no hay calidez almendrada o timidez floral en este líquido rojo. La fragancia es un incienso amaderado que abre con una dulce nota de mandarina. La mezcla está abundantemente sazonada con especias: jengibre, ají picante y azafrán que parecen sintetizar el color rojo. La jugosa mandarina madura, tan suave como la voz del mismo Olivier, está presente a lo largo de la evolución, hasta que se desvanece contra un fondo de maderas y resinas.

Olivier Durbano Heliotrope – Alchemy and symbolism
Olivier Durbano created his collection inspired by stones, their legends and symbolism. He called the line, appropriately, Collection de Pierres Poemes. The sensitivity of a true artist surrounds the soft spoken Olivier who speaks vehemently about fragrances and affirms he is moved by passion, not reason when creating.
In his fragrances, Olivier successfully manages to turn stone to liquid. His eaux de parfum are infused with a mineral quality, an element common to all the fragrances in his series. Simply put, they smell like stone.
Heliotrope was launched in 2012 at Pitti Fragranze. This Heliotrope is obviously not inspired by the homonymous flower, but the stone that bears the same name (also called bloodstone due to the red inclusions found in it). The stone, already known to the Babylonians and Aztecs, was associated with blood, used to keep away the enemies, to provoke storms and lightning and as a treatment for different ailments of the circulatory system. It is still used in traditional Indian medicine .
Although Mr. Durbano lists heliotrope (the flower) among the notes, no almondy coziness or flowery shyness are to be found in this red juice. The fragrance is more of a woody incense that opens with a sweet tangerine note. The blend is abundantly seasoned with spices: ginger, red hot pepper and saffron which seem to evoke the color red. The juicy ripe tangerine, as soft spoken as Olivier himself, is present throughout the evolution, until it fades into a background of woods and resins.
