Habiendo vivido toda la vida en el Hemisferio Sur y luego de un año de residir en el del Norte, para mí sigue siendo novedad el hecho de tener las estaciones invertidas. Septiembre fue siempre sinónimo de Primavera (perspectiva que en breve ofrecerá Caro). Sin embargo, ahora es el mes del Otoño.
Más de una vez he declarado mi devoción por esta estación fresca pero de colores cálidos. También he señalado que el cambio de temporada no implica necesariamente -en la práctica- usar determinado perfume. Sin embargo, instintivamente solemos buscar en las fragancias ciertos aspectos que comparten algún aspecto con el clima y el paisaje que nos rodea.
Imagino al otoño tibio y dulzón, especialmente de la mano de composiciones ambaradas y acordes chipre. Algo de ese espíritu es el que exhalan mis siguientes favoritos, además de mencionar a un par de candidatos extraídos de mi whishlist.
– Hermés Eau Des Merveilles envuelve en una atmósfera cálida y árida, combinando las notas de cedro, pimienta y naranja.
– House Of Matriarch Ambre Vie es completamente una oda al otoño. Ambreína, vainilla, miel y tabaco simulan un espectacular y acogedor atardecer.
– Sisley Soir de Lune es una pócima espesa con mimosa, sándalo, musgo de roble y patchouli. Tan moderna como elegante, se abre paso con indiscutida originalidad.
– PK Perfumes Gold Leather es esa luz solar radiante que nos acaricia pero no nos agobia, encadenando retama, haba tonka y benjuí.
– Annick Goutal Grand Amour es fresco y dorado. Sumamente floral y ambarado, fusiona el embelesante aroma del jacinto con el de la madreselva para después fundirlo con rosas, mirra y ámbar.
– Chloé Eau De Parfum Intense es uno de mis dos favoritos de la marca. Sin complejidades, entreteje magistralmente una rosa pura con hebras de sándalo, cedro y pimienta rosa.
– Chanel Les Exclusifs Beige es esa dulce indulgencia para los días más destemplados. Decididamente femenino, la tibia consistencia de la miel marida a la fresia y al frangipani.
– Comme des Garçons Red Sequoia, sinónimo de un paseo por el bosque. El aire que allí se respira es interpretado por notas de caoba, jazmín y canela.
Y como amante de los perfumes que soy, tengo una lista interminable de fragancias que quisiera probar. Sin embargo, hay dos que intuyo podría agregar a esta lista otoñal:
– Diptyque Eau Duelle, que ha sido reinterpretado y aún no he tenido la oportunidad de olerlo. La identidad de esta fragancia corre por la conjunción de té de Ceylan, vainilla de Bourbon y ambroxina.
– Decennial LuckyScent Nuit Épicée es un capricho gourmand. Lo imagino como un sublime cobijo creado por la sinergia entre violetas, almendras, ambar y praliné.

Top Ten – Autumn in September
I have lived all my life at the Southern Hemisphere. However, after a year living in the US, it still feels strange to have “inverted seasons”. For me, September was always synonymous with Spring (Caro will offer that perspective later). But now, this month means Autumn.
Many times I have stated my devotion to this cool season and its warm colors. Also I have expressed that the change of seasons doesn’t necessarily imply -in practice- to wear a specific perfume. Notwithstanding, we usually look for fragrances that share some aspect with the weather and surrounding landscape.
I imagine Autumn with warm sweetish hues, going along especially with ambery compositions and chypre chords. Some of that spirit is exhaled by the following favorites of mine, mentioned with a couple of “Fall nominees” from my whishlist.
– Hermés Eau Des Merveilles surrounds the wearer with a warm and dry atmosphere, combining cedar, pepper and orange notes.
– House Of Matriarch Ambre Vie is a whole ode to Autumn. Ambreine, vanilla, honey and tobacco simulate a cozy and spectacular sunset.
– Sisley Soir de Lune is a thick potion of mimosa, sandal, oakmoss and patchouli. As modern as elegant, it breaks throughs with undisputable uniqueness.
– PK Perfumes Gold Leather is that shining sunlight that caresses us but not overwhelms, connecting broom, tonka bean and benzoin.
– Annick Goutal Grand Amour is cool but golden. Extremely floral and ambery, it merges the ravishing hyacinth aroma with honeysuckle and a blend of roses, myrrh and amber.
– Chloé Eau De Parfum Intense is one of my two favorites of the brand. Withouth complexities, it masterfully interweaves a sheer rose note with threads of sandal, cedar and pink peppercorn.
– Chanel Les Exclusifs Beige is the sweet indulgence for the coldest days. Decidedly feminine, the warm consistency of honey pairs to freesia with frangipani.
– Comme des Garçons Red Sequoia, a synonym for a walk through the woods. The air that you can breathe is here interpreted by caoba, jasmine and cinnamon notes.
And a as a perfume lover, I have an endless list of fragrances that I want to try. However there are two of them that I infer can be part of this autumnal list:
– Diptyque Eau Duelle, that has been reinterpreted but I have not had the oportunity of smell it yet. Its identity goes through the conjunction of black Ceylan tea, Bourbon vanilla and ambroxin.
– Decennial LuckyScent Nuit Épicée is a gourmand whim. I imagine it like a sublime shelter made with the synergy among violets, almonds, amber and praliné.
